Jay Allen, US country singer and staunch campaigner for the Alzheimer's Association, coming soon to Cambridge
American country star Jay Allen, a former contestant on The Voice, is bringing his music and his support for caregivers to the UK this August, including a headline show at the The Six Six Bar in Cambridge next Monday (August 7).
Jay is known not only for his heartfelt melodies, but also for his unwavering dedication to raising awareness for Alzheimer's disease.
Blank Stares, his 2018 hit single, was written as a powerful tribute to his mother who battled early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. The song became a viral sensation, amassing almost two million streams on Spotify.
Growing up near Cedar Falls, Iowa, Jay’s deep passion for music was influenced by his father’s rock concerts and his mother's heartfelt country tunes during long car rides.
He signed a publishing deal in 2014 and secured an artist deal with Sony/ATV two years later after moving to Nashville, the Home of Country Music, in 2013.
In a pivotal moment for his career, the singer appeared on series 22 of The Voice, delivering a solid rendition of Cody Johnson’s ’Til You Can’t, which earned chair turns from both Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.
Jay’s most recent release, Jello Shot, has also been well received, earning almost 40,000 streams on Spotify.
His commitment to raising awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association has been unwavering, and he actively participates in various international events, including the Rita Hayworth Gala.
Recognising his dedication and advocacy work, Jay has received numerous accolades, including the Caregiver Award from the National Alzheimer's Association.
He also recently received a special invitation to the White House to participate in an event supporting the First Lady’s Joining Forces initiative.
