Jazz and soul star Natalie Williams launches Girton Jazz
Girton College is launching Girton Jazz, a dynamic initiative offering workshops and programmes by top UK jazz musicians.
The first workshop and concert will be led by jazz and soul star Natalie Williams. Other artists set to be involved include Trish Clowes, Ross Stanley, Tony Kofi and many others.
The programme is directed by Girton College chaplain and jazz musician Tim Boniface, in collaboration with Girton’s famed musician-in-residence, director of Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and master pianist, James Pearson.
Tim Boniface said: “This exciting new programme builds on Girton’s long history of excellence in music by bringing this wonderful art form into the heart of college life.
“The concerts offer an opportunity for the community and wider public to hear leading jazz musicians at the top of their game, while the unique workshop programme will support students in their own jazz performance and make links that will have a huge impact on their musical development.
“We want Girton to be the place to be for jazz.”
Evening concerts in the college’s historic Old Hall will be open to the public. For more information, visit girton.cam.ac.uk/life-girton/music/girton-jazz.
