Learn about restoration work at Bourn Mill, Cambridgeshire




Guided tours with experts will explain the major conservation and restoration work being carried out to save Bourn Windmill, the oldest surviving windmill in the UK.

Supporting beams have rotted at the mill, which is currently closed, but work to save the building is under way. Four tours, organised by Cambridge Past, Present and Future, will take place on Tuesday, August 2, They are free but donations are welcome. Booking is required at cambridgeppf.org/Pages/Events/Category/cambridge-whats-on-events.

The restoration is being supported by significant grants from the Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England. The event will be outdoors, so visitors are asked to please dress for the weather and to wear sensible footwear.

They are also being asked to arrive at least five minutes before the tour starts so that it can start on time.
