Magic of Motown comes to Newmarket
One of the biggest success stories in British theatre history brought the timeless sounds of Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, The Temptations and more to a packed crowd at the July Course.
Seen by over a million people, the cast of this theatrical phenomenon has even performed for Her Majesty the Queen, as special guests at the Royal Variety Performance.
Due to the phenomenal success of The Jacksons last year, and through public demand, the cast and band of Magic of Motown delivered 40 back-to-back classic Motown hits, glittering costume changes, dazzling dance moves and outstanding musicianship on Friday, August 3.
Old favourites included Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Signed Sealed Delivered, Dancing in the Streets, My Girl, Blame It on the Boogie, Uptight, Endless Love, My Cherie Amor, and All Night Long.
It was lovely to see such a variety of people in the audience and no matter what the age, everyone looked like they were having so much fun.
The crowd were so energetic right from the start, and I even saw a group of people doing a dance routine to the left of the stage which was great to watch.
I would say My Girl, I’m Coming Out and Blame It on the Boogie were a few of my favourite performances. The Jackson 5 set was brilliant and the costume changes throughout really set the Motown scene.
I was really impressed with the quality of the act from start to finish; the artists were able to sing and dance at the same while being full of energy. It was just like watching the real thing!
