Located on the second floor of the museum, the altar, which this year is honouring Mexican singer Paquita La Del Barrio who died in February, was built by members of the University’s Mexican Society, with help from some willing volunteers.

Cecilia Ávila Perez, treasurer of the Mexican Society, said: “We’re not celebrating death, what we’re doing is we’re inviting our loved ones who have passed away to come and visit us. It’s a day for remembrance.”

Entry to the museum is free. For more information, visit maa.cam.ac.uk.
