All the details as Midsummer Fair returns to Cambridge




The annual Midsummer Fair takes place on Midsummer Common in Cambridge from 5pm today (Wednesday, June 21) until this Sunday (June 25).

More than 50 rides and activities are on offer at the fair, which caters for children and adults alike

When is it open?

It runs from Wednesday, June 21-Friday, June 23 from 5pm unitl late in the evening.

And it runs from 12pm until late on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25.

What about traffic?

Visitors and residents are urged to plan ahead for a busy weekend in the city. Local roads may be busier than usual – particularly between 12 noon and 10pm on Saturday, June 24, when the peak in visitor numbers is anticipated. And the footbridge at the Fort St George will also be closed on Saturday.

The city council is working with partners, including the police and the county council, to prepare for one of the city’s most popular outdoor events.

Litter and toilets

Extra litter bins will be provided on Midsummer Common, with increased litter picking also taking place.

Temporary toilet blocks will be provided on Midsummer Common, alongside additional cleaning scheduled for both Jesus Green and Midsummer Common permanent toilet blocks, while police will provide support to traffic enforcement teams. County council colleagues will provide support with updating traffic information signs.

Reporting issues

Residents and fair-goers can report any concerns in-person at a community hub situated opposite the toilet block on Midsummer Common, from 9am until 8pm on the Saturday, or by calling 07803 888430.

Do not use the community hub to report crime related matters; these should be referred to the police. Non-emergency crimes should be reported through 101, and emergencies to 999.
