Promotional gig featuring Boo Hewerdine and Brooks Williams to launch Ely Folk Festival 2024
The Ely Folk Festival 2024 is to officially launch with a promotional gig at The Portland Arms.
Described as “a unique one-off patrons concert”, the line-up at the Cambridge venue on Thursday, 21 March, features Cambridge favourites Boo Hewerdine and Brooks Williams, reunited as State of the Union for their only show of 2024. The pair will be supported by Tu-Kay & Ryan and Rich Young & Myke Clifford.
The 38th annual Ely Folk Festival takes place from 12-14 July at Stuntney Estate, Soham Road, Ely. The event will host more than 35 acts across three stages, and there will also be workshops and meet-and-greet sessions.
Headlining will be Eddi Reader, Peatbog Faeries, Breabach, Jez Lowe, and O’Hooley & Tidow.
Fionnuala Lennon, the festival’s marketing director, said: “Over one glorious weekend in July, we will celebrate the best in folk and roots music as part of our 38th festival.
“It’s a fabulous way of catching nationally-acclaimed and talented local acts up close in the relaxed surroundings of Stuntney Estate and we look forward to welcoming everyone.”
Tickets for the Portland Arms show on Thursday, 21 March, are £15 and are available from theportlandarms.co.uk/wp/. For more on the festival, go to elyfolkfestival.co.uk.
