Reach Fair 2025 to welcome thousands on Bank Holiday Monday

Reach Fair 2025 takes place on Bank Holiday Monday (5 May), running from 11am to 5pm.

The popular Reach Ride, which cyclists have previously joined to get to the fair, is not happening this year as organiser Camcycle is refocusing on its campaigning activities. Instead, it has encouraged people to ride independently to the event.

The fair has taken place in Reach every year since 1201, when King John granted a charter.

It was originally held on Rogation Monday but since 1979, it has been held on the early May bank holiday.

According to original custom, it will be opened by the mayor of Cambridge accompanied by the aldermen in full regalia and pennies will be thrown to visitors in the crowd.

The big wheel is always a huge attraction, but there are many other fairground rides and games, suitable for all ages, and this year the event will once again have the dodgems.

The Devil’s Dyke Morris Men always come along and dance throughout the afternoon, and on the top field, there will be a variety of inflatables to keep the children – and the grown-ups – amused.

And the playground, also in the top field, is worth a visit.

There will also be a bungee trampoline jump and Newmarket Bouncy Castles will have their popular Last Man Standing activity.

As always, there will be a village bottles stall, coconut shy and football game, and the Swaffham Prior School will again be entertaining the crowds with their maypole dancing.

JezO’s will once again be helping organise everything and the magic show is back this year.

Those selling food and drink will include Burwell Brewery, Coffee Temple, Handy Plaice, Lazy Liza’s, Pizza Passione, and Verrecchia’s.
