Robert De Niro to address the Cambridge Union
Screen legend Robert De Niro is set to speak at the Cambridge Union this Sunday (February 27).
In a tweet on February 21, the Union – the oldest debating society in the world – said: “We are delighted to announce that the mystery guest we have been teasing at this weekend is none other than the man himself, Robert De Niro! We are absolutely ecstatic to welcome him to The Chamber this coming Saturday.” The tweet was then corrected below with the words “*Sunday 27th!”.
In a career spanning more than 50 years, De Niro’s best-known films include Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, The Godfather Part II, Goodfellas, and Casino.
The talk, the time of which has yet to be confirmed, will only be open to members of the Cambridge Union, who will receive details of the event in an email this week. But even members have been warned that the event will be ‘first come first serve’.
