Singer-songwriter Georgia Nevada’s search for ‘light in the darkness’
After a string of single releases, Littleport-based country rock singer-songwriter Georgia Nevada is gearing up to release her debut EP this Friday (8 November).
The Bright Side of The Dark showcases Georgia’s fusion of country and rock and reflects the contrasts in her music and personality.
She says of her music: “I walk a fine line between the two genres, and this EP represents my search for light in the darkness, both in life and music.”
The five-track EP blends moments of raw vulnerability with light-heartedness and even a touch of envy. The five songs showcase Georgia’s lyrical talent and storytelling ability.
Georgia says: “I’m so excited to finally release a collection of songs that not only introduce my music but also gives listeners a glimpse into my mind.
“Whether it’s dealing with heartbreak or finding strength in loss, my hope is that this EP offers a sense of empowerment, comfort and connection to anyone who might need it.”
The singer, who was born Georgia Heppelthwaite, has been recognised by the British Country Music Association (BCMA) and, since September 2020, has enjoyed two number one singles on the UK iTunes Country Chart, reached number 36 on the iTunes all-genre chart, and released a further three top three singles, two of which were collaborations.
These were followed by the song Sin on a Shoestring, which climbed to the second spot in the UK iTunes Country Chart.
Georgia has appeared at some of the UK’s biggest country music festivals, including Buckle and Boots and the Millport Country Music Festival, and has supported the likes of Katy Hurt, Kezia Gill, Jade Helliwell and Ags Connolly.
She has also been played on Absolute Country and Countryline Radio (formerly Chris Country), as well as being an ‘artist of the day’ on BBC Introducing.
To celebrate the release of the EP, Georgia will be headlining a special two-night EP launch event at The Attic Theatre in Royston on December 4 and 5.
The first night will feature a songwriter’s round with guest artists SJ Mortimer (of Morganway) and Gina Larner, while the second night will be a stripped-back full band acoustic performance with support by alt folk artist Darcy Beau.
Georgia notes that “these shows are doubling as fundraisers to help me get into the studio in February to start recording my debut album – so, if you’re all about supporting independent music, come join us.
“New faces are more than welcome, and I’d love to see you there!”
Standard tickets for the two gigs are priced at £13.50 and are available from georgianevada.com/tour.
