Tom Cruise takes on another Mission: Impossible with incredible stunt at Duxford in Cambridgeshire
It was just another day at the office for Hollywood star Tom Cruise, who was seen in the skies above Duxford rehearsing one of his most dangerous stunts yet.
Adding to the hugely impressive – and often gravity-defying – list of feats the daredevil actor has performed since first taking on the role of Ethan Hunt in 1996’s Mission: Impossible, the 59-year-old was seen hanging upside down on the wing of a war plane in this stunt for Mission: Impossible 8 as the plane looped-the-loop 2,000 feet up in the air.
The actor was also seen sitting in the front of the 1941 Boeing B75N1 Stearman biplane, with the pilot in the back, as it took off from Duxford airfield. Then, at 2,000 feet, Cruise could be seen climbing out of the cockpit and crawling on to the left wing as the two-seater WW2 plane flew through the skies.
In a nail-biting manoeuvre, the A-lister – who was attached to the 80-year-old plane by a harness – then dangled himself upside down from the wing. At that moment, the plane flipped upside down, so that the actor was sitting upright on the wing. He then clung on as the plane dived and did a loop-theloop, before crawling back into the cockpit before the plane came in to land.
Tom Cruise has only just finished filming the seventh film in the Mission: Impossible series but started work on the next movie almost immediately. Mission: Impossible 7 is due to be released next year, with the eighth instalment to follow in July 2023.
