Visitors find out all about plants and more at annual Cambridge Botanic Garden Festival of Plants
The Cambridge University Botanic Garden’s annual Festival of Plants took place on Saturday (8 June) and it proved to be very popular once again.
Helen Needham, marketing and communications co-ordinator at CUBG, confirmed that “just under 3,000 people visited in total”, adding: “It was wonderful to see so many people visiting the Festival of Plants and exploring all areas of the Botanic Garden.
“Visitors enjoyed the range of tours given by garden staff and guides and the Ask the Gardener panel were kept busy throughout the day with people coming with their gardening questions and dilemmas.
“This year, our ‘Talking Plants’ tent was particularly popular where visitors were genuinely intrigued by the bitesized talks from University researchers, ranging from how plants defend themselves to what the first flower looked like and how cat whiskers can contribute to food security in Africa.
“The pop-up plant science marquee was also full of visitors of all ages who enjoyed chatting to scientists and taking part in interactive activities and finding out all about plants.”
