What to expect when Christmas in Cambridge winter wonderland returns to Parker’s Piece for 2025
A winter wonderland is being lined up again for Parker’s Piece when ‘Christmas in Cambridge’ returns.
Running from 13 November until 31 December, it will be the second year that Seventa Events has organised the city’s biggest festive attraction.
An open-air ice rink, Christmas market stalls, street food, big wheel, carousel, the apres terrace and curling lanes, alpine lodge bar and live entertainment attracted big crowds.
“We were so pleased by the response last year,” said Simon Brooks, event director. “Cambridge came alive with festive spirit, and the feedback from visitors, residents, and local businesses was extraordinary. It’s clear that Christmas in Cambridge has already become a much-loved tradition for the city. We are looking forward to coming back this year.”
The organisers say this year’s wonderland will be bigger and brighter, with new attractions expected alongside festive favourites.
Thurston’s Family Attractions will set up a Christmas tree maze with 300 trees and, beside the ice rink will be a treble Christmas tipi, described as a “festive escape” with “cosy seating areas perfect for unwinding with friends and family” and enjoying a hot chocolate, mulled wine or spiced cider.
A spokesperson for Cambridge BID said: “2024 was Seventa Events' first year of their seven-year contract on the site, and the response from Cambridge businesses and locals was overwhelmingly positive. The space looked incredible, a real asset to the city at Christmas.
“Every time I walked past, it was bustling with visitors, which was fantastic to see. I attended a couple of times myself, and it was a truly great experience. The social media was also outstanding, really showcasing Cambridge as a top destination for the festive season.”
Businesses can also book Christmas parties at the site.
