How to see the stunning Crown and Coronation light and sound show at Ely Cathedral
Crown and Coronation, an immersive light and sound show, is to tour the UK – and Ely Cathedral will be one of the first venues to host it.
Launched at the Tower of London in November, the show celebrates the spectacle, significance and inspiration of the Crown Jewels and the Coronation ceremony. The project was created by Historic Royal Palaces in partnership with Luxmuralis, the artistic collaboration of artist Peter Walker and composer David Harper.
Joss Palmer, event manager at Ely Cathedral, said: “We feel very honoured to be one of the first venues in the UK to showcase this event. We have always admired Peter Walker’s work, and his creativity and talent in producing large-scale light productions is legendary. This particular project promises to be an amazing experience.”
The cathedral will be immersed in light and sound as visitors travel through history, from William the Conqueror to Queen Victoria, as colourful imagery of jewels and royalty are projected.
Crown and Coronation will run from February 6-10, between 6.15pm and 8.45pm. Tickets are bookable in 15-minute intervals in advance at https://www.elycathedral.org/events/crown-and-coronation. The experience is expected to take about an hour.
