Charlie Knott and Alex Melloy capped making their England debuts with medal-winning performances at the SIAB Track & Field International in Swansea.

The performances of the Cambridgeshire athletes at the English Schools' AA Track & Field Championships earned them a call-up to represent England, and they did not disappoint.

Cambridge & Coleridge AC's Knott was taking part in the under-17 boys' high jump.

He went clear at 1.91m to win the silver medal, 10cm higher than third-placed athlete Samuel Turnbull. Sam Brereton won the gold medal with a leap of 2.09m.

Clubmate Melloy was racing in the under-17 boys' 3,000m and earned the bronze medal.

He clocked 8min 41.96sec for third as England team-mate Will Barnicoat won the gold and Wales' Osian Perrin took silver.

Fellow Cambs athlete Joseph Purbrick, who competes for Nene Valley, also earned a silver medal, finishing second in the under-17 men's 100m hurdles.

He clocked 13.68, as Joseph Harding timed 13.21 to take gold.
