Jack Gray lived up to the title of the event at the Night of 10,000m PBs. when making his Great Britain senior debut in the European 10,000m Cup.

Gray, who is part of Mark Vile’s training group at Cambridge & Coleridge AC, marked his first GB vest by helping them achieve the silver medal at Highgate.

As part of the six-strong squad, Gray finished in 23rd being edged out by Matt Leach in a race-long tussle.

His time of 28min 49.53sec was a personal best, with Leach finishing in 28.47.24.

GB’s Ben Connor won the individual silver medal, and Nick Goolab was eighth in his first track 10,000m.

Gray’s achievement in racing for GB meant he was the first member of the training group to get a senior call-up.

Team-mate Thomas Keen has been named in the British team for the European Under-20 Championships in Sweden later this month.

Having won the 3,000m at the European Under-18 Championships last year, he will make the step down to the 1,500m for the under-20s event in Boras.
